From our new fitness equipment, indoor pool and exercise studio, to massage services, nutritious and delicious dining options, and social areas for gathering and entertaining, inspiration for a strong, healthy lifestyle abounds.
Residents are also inspired by our eco-friendly focus. Our progressive community has gone green. Brandon Woods continually conserves energy, recycles, reuses, and takes other actions to benefit our community and the environment.
Our History
Brandon Woods has a 20+ year history that has grown into a unique living experience. Our community opened in stages with health center services debuting in January 1988, followed by apartment homes, assisted living residences and the first equity-owned townhouses opening
later that same year. A dedicated memory care neighborhood and Medicare-certified rehabilitation services expanded our health center offerings in 1995. The community’s on-site pharmacy, Sunflower Pharmacy, and on-site bank, Douglas County Bank, moved to their new locations, and a Medicare-certified home health agency was added in our latest renovations.
To meet the changing needs of our residents, we continue to grow— with beautifully completed common areas and continuous renovations. Today, our vibrant campus occupies an expansive 30 acres in west Lawrence just three miles from the University of Kansas. With 76 townhouses, 82 apartment homes, 37 assisted living residences and 140 skilled nursing accommodations, Brandon Woods at Alvamar is the largest provider of living options for senior adults in Douglas County.
